Terms of Service

Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

These terms are the agreement between you and us about your use of Newsido. By using the site or the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Newsido.

1. Who you are agreeing with

Newsido is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], registered in the United Kingdom under company number [COMPANY NUMBER], registered office [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. You can reach us at [CONTACT EMAIL].

2. What Newsido is, and what it is not

Newsido is a news reader. It collects material that other organisations have published, and presents a summary of each story alongside a link to the original. You should understand three things about that:

  • The headlines and summaries are written by artificial intelligence from the published article. They are not written or checked line by line by a journalist. They can be wrong, and they can lose a detail the original was careful about.
  • The original publisher is named on every story, and linked. Where a story matters to you, read it at the source. The source is the authority; our summary is not.
  • Newsido is not the publisher of the underlying reporting and does not claim to be. We do not own the articles we summarise or the videos we point at.

Where we are wrong, tell us at [EDITORIAL EMAIL] and we will correct or remove the item.

3. Nothing here is advice

Newsido is general information and nothing more. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal, medical or professional advice, and it is not a personal recommendation. In particular, nothing on our money, mortgage, crypto or markets channels is regulated financial advice, and we are not authorised to give any. Investments and crypto can fall as well as rise. Before you act on anything you read on Newsido, take advice from someone qualified and regulated to give it.

4. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 to hold an account.
  • Give us details that are accurate, and keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
  • One person, one account, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
  • Tell us at once if you think somebody else has got into your account.
  • You can close your account whenever you like, from Settings. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data when you do.

5. What you may not do

Do not use Newsido to do any of the following:

  • break the law, or help anyone else to;
  • post anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, obscene, or that puts a real person at risk;
  • post material you have no right to post, including someone else's copyrighted work;
  • impersonate anyone, or pretend to represent an organisation you do not represent;
  • spread deliberate falsehoods, spam, scams or malware;
  • scrape, bulk-download, mirror or re-publish Newsido's content, or run automated requests against the site, without our written permission;
  • try to break, overload, probe or get round the security of the service, or to reach data that is not yours;
  • use Newsido's content or feeds to train a machine-learning model without our written permission.

We may remove anything that breaks these rules, and we may suspend or close an account that does — usually with an explanation, and immediately where there is a risk to someone.

6. Anything you post

You keep the copyright in what you write, upload or comment. By posting it on Newsido you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host it, show it, format it and distribute it as part of the service, including in feeds and previews, for as long as you leave it up. Delete it and that licence ends, apart from copies already made in ordinary backups.

You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm that you have the right to post it. We are a platform for readers' contributions, not their author, and we do not check every post before it appears.

7. Newsido's own content

The Newsido name, look, software, design and the summaries we generate belong to [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] or our licensors. You may read Newsido, and share a link to a story with anyone. You may not copy the site's content wholesale, republish it commercially, or pass it off as your own.

Where a story quotes or summarises another publisher's reporting, the rights in that reporting stay with that publisher.

8. Links, embedded video and other people's sites

Newsido links out constantly, and that is the point. We are not responsible for other people's websites, their content or their privacy practices.

Voices clips are embedded, not hosted. Every clip plays on its own platform, in their player. Newsido never hosts the video — the creator keeps the view, the credit and the link back. When you play one, your browser deals directly with that platform and their terms and cookies apply. See our Cookies Policy.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on Newsido infringes your copyright, email [EDITORIAL EMAIL] with a link to the item, what you own, and confirmation that you are the owner or are acting for them. We take these seriously and we act quickly.

10. Availability and changes

Newsido is provided as it is. We work to keep it up but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, complete or free of error, and we may add, change or withdraw features. Where a change is significant we will tell you.

11. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your rights as a consumer under UK law are unaffected by anything here.

Beyond that, and because Newsido is free to use, we are not liable for any loss of profit, business, goodwill, data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service or from anything you did or did not do because of something you read on it.

12. Ending this agreement

You may stop using Newsido and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop running the service. Sections 3, 6, 7, 9 and 11 carry on applying afterwards.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date at the top. If a change materially affects you we will bring it to your attention in the app. Using Newsido after a change means you accept the new version.

14. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION], and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your own local courts.
